PC
If you are experiencing performance issues or crashes in RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, please try the following quick fixes first:
- Validate your download of the game by following this guide.
- Switch to Fullscreen mode in the graphics options and disable the Steam overlay for RollerCoaster Tycoon 3.
To do so, right-click the game title in your Steam Library, click on "Properties" and uncheck "Enable Steam Community In-Game" in the "General" tab. - Make sure that your computer is not overheating. The tool HWMonitor can help check the temperatures of individual components under load.
In some cases, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 may crash because of a problem with the driver for the graphics card or Windows itself.
To rule this out, it can help to perform a clean reinstall of the driver and check that your Windows is up to date.

Some notebook computers will require that only drivers validated by the system manufacturer may be installed. Validated drivers should be provided on the manufacturer's website.
To perform a clean reinstall, it is necessary to uninstall the previously installed graphics card driver before installing the new one.
For Nvidia graphics cards, this can be done automatically. The driver installer has a clean install option that will perform the necessary steps.

Once the old driver has been removed, reboot the computer and install the most recent driver.
Nintendo Switch
If you are experiencing frequent crashes or performance issues in RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 on Nintendo Switch, please try the following quick fixes first:

iOS
RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 requires a reasonable amount of your iPad/iPhone's memory to run properly. If you find your game is lagging, please try shutting down any other apps which may be running alongside the game.
If you are having stability issues with your game then we firstly recommend restarting your iPad and freeing up it's memory to improve your RCT3 experience:
- Hold onto the power button and swipe right to turn off your device.
If this doesn't work, you may also have to completely clear your Apple device's memory following the installation of the game. To do this:
- Simply hold down the power button and Home button together for around 15-20 seconds. This will clear your active cache and reboot your device.
- Be sure to close down all open apps beforehand.
