Sometimes you may need to completely remove one of our games from your PC to help fix some problems you have been experiencing.
Follow the steps below for a step by step guide on how to do this:
- Click Start and type "Add or Remove".
- This should show you the option to "Add or remove programs"
- Scroll down, or use the search function and then right-click the game and select Uninstall. See the image below.
- If the game is not listed under Add/Remove Programs, manually uninstall the game by deleting the folder in the directory where the game was installed.
- After uninstalling, there may still be game files remaining on your computer. Search for any related files and delete them. Please make backups if you want to keep your save files. These files are normally found in the following locations:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Frontier\
- C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\ [%username% will automatically bring you to the current user directory when pasted into Windows Explorer]
- C:\Users\%username%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\ [%username% will automatically bring you to the current user directory when pasted into Windows Explorer]
- C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Frontier Developments\ [%username% will automatically bring you to the current user directory when pasted into Windows Explorer]
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\ [This may change depending on where your Steam folder is installed]
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Oculus\Software\frontier-developments-plc-elite-dangerous\ [This may change depending on where your Oculus folder is installed]
- You can find a full list of possible locations here.
- Empty the Recycle bin and manually remove any shortcuts that may have been created in the Start menu or on the desktop.
